AN APPLE PIE A DAY…!
If you had an apple pie a day, would it keep the doctor away? Let’s give it a try, shall we?
The original poster gives you an excellent recipe for pie crust. If you want to make your own, this is a good no-fail recipe to try. But if you feel intimidated by making your own crust, I can dig it. Feel free to use the ready-made refrigerated crust, especially if you want or need to save time. An important tip on this pie is to cover all but the center with foil. See the photos in the original post. That’s to keep the edges from burning. Burnt edges on pie is such a downer. Don’t forget to have vanilla ice cream at the ready so you can scoop some on top to add the final touch of perfection to your pie!
What I like about this recipe is the use of apple juice, which kind of brings it all together. Cutting the apples into chips is also a new one for me. In my go-to apple pie recipe (the one with the show-offy lattice crust) I always cut my apples into small chunks and I cook the apples and other filling ingredients together. This recipe simply requires you to pour everything into your pie crust which really simplifies things. With the apples cut into chips, it makes them cook up in the crust better.
