NOTHING SAYS “PARTY” QUITE LIKE THIS!
Due to its enormous size, this is not a cake you’re going to make for your regular Sunday dinner dessert. Unless your family is the size of the Duggar family that is. This is the perfect cake for a crowd, especially if you want that crowd to be happy. According to the original poster, you can make this on a jelly roll pan or a 9×13. If it’s the latter, it will be a bit thicker and fudgier, which sounds fine by me. I used a jelly roll pan for mine.
You’ll notice coffee is in this recipe. If you haven’t already discovered the wonders of using coffee in your chocolate cake recipes, it’s time. You will not taste the coffee at all. It merely gives the cake a super-rich chocolate taste. Don’t believe me? Ask people as they eat it to guess the ingredients and not one of them will ever say coffee. Also, you’ll need buttermilk for this. The original poster has thoughtfully included how to work around that should you not have it. Just look at the tips at the end of the recipe. With the frosting, you want it to be warm when you put it on your cake. Then top it with the pecans, chocolate chips and caramel sauce. You can use the jarred caramel sauce if you prefer.
I found this grand recipe on the About A Mom blog. Click the link below to see the blog and full recipe for this Texas Turtle Sheet Cake.
