GET ROLLIN’!
So these will keep you a bit busy. They’re not hard but for a weekday morning, they might just be too much. Save these for a Saturday or Sunday morning to make breakfast extra special. An even better idea: make the dough the night before you plan to bake it. Since there’s lots of waiting for things to rise, that’s a way better plan. That’s what I did and it made getting them baked the next morning totally easy.
This dough is very sticky too, so make sure you flour your working area REALLY well. Once you get the dough ready, you will spread it with the lemon curd and roll it up. Then you will cut it into slices, cover and let rise again. Incidentally, THIS is where you’d pop them in the fridge again to use the next morning.
Don’t forget to brush these with egg before you bake them. The recipe calls for walnuts as well, and if you wish to add them, you’ll do it now. But if you’d prefer no nuts, it’s fine too. I left them off because while I love walnuts, I just wanted to enjoy the lemony flavors of this. As it bakes, make your icing and pour that on top as soon as these come out of the oven. Enjoy!
