MAKE ANY HOLIDAY OR GET TOGETHER MORE HOMEMADE!
I can’t help it. I always associate sweet potato pies with the holidays. And there’s nothing wrong with that, at least as far as I’m concerned. The holidays are my favorite time of the year. There’s so much cooking and baking and baking and cooking. And eating. Isn’t that the best part? Yes, it is. In my family, no feast would ever have been complete without a sweet potato pie on the dessert table.
True story: one year, my mom forgot to serve her famous deviled eggs during Thanksgiving dinner. When my brother remembered and spoke up, she put them on the dessert table next to the sweet potato pie, the chocolate pie and the gobs of other goodies and then wordlessly stalked into the kitchen where she sobbed and sobbed. Poor Mom. But she got over that real quick when all of us, stuffed as we were, managed to eat almost all of the deviled eggs AND still eat enough dessert too. Yes, this Southern Sweet Potato Pie reminds me of those holiday meals with family. Even the one where Mom’s stuffing exploded. Seriously. I can’t make this stuff up. Let’s go to the next page (click the Next button below) to find out how to make this Southern Sweet Potato Pie.
