YOU CAN WEAR YOUR PINK. I’LL EAT IT!
So while this cake does incorporate a box mix, it’s not a strawberry-flavored mix. You’ll be using a white cake mix but WITHOUT pudding. The strawberry flavor and unmistakable pink color will come from strawberry-flavored gelatin and mashed frozen strawberries which you will thaw out before mashing. From there, it couldn’t be easier. You split the batter into 2 pans, bake, cool, yadda yadda yadda. If you’re new to baking, this is a great one to start with because it is so simple and yields such beautiful results.
The buttercream is a delight too, because you’ll use more of those mashed up thawed out once-frozen strawberries, along with the juice. It will look more strawberry-like than that store-bought stuff. And it will taste like it too. And honestly, that’s what you’re going for with this. It’s a natural strawberry cake that truly tastes like it was made with all of your love, without you having to go insane making it.
