10 MINUTES TO GET READY!
I love recipes that take virtually no time out of my schedule to get ready. This one is ready to pop into the oven in just 10 minutes. That’s awesome! The recipe says you can use fresh peaches or thawed-out frozen peaches, but it doesn’t make any mention of canned peaches. I personally used fresh peaches because they are on sale at the supermarket thanks to summer and I pretty much buy a bushel of them now, what with my baking and my kids and husband constantly devouring them. I don’t see what harm there would be in trying canned peaches though if that’s what you got.
Oh, and when you’re making the crusty topping, you will pour your melted butter first into your baking dish and then pour your crust mixture on top of the butter. DON’T STIR! Peaches go on top. When it’s bubbly, it’s ready to serve. Allow it to cool just a smidge before serving. You want it warm but not so hot that you burn your mouth. By the way, the recipe includes vanilla ice cream as optional for serving but you know my stance on that, don’t you? DON’T SKIP THE ICE CREAM! It’s the perfect pairing!
I found this peachy recipe on the Taste of Home website. Click the link below to see the site and full recipe for this South Carolina Cobbler.
