SO NOW I HAVE GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS!
Which would you prefer first? The good news? Ok, here it is: you get to use those soft caramel candies to create the filling in these. Yum!
But wait…what could possibly be bad news when there are caramels involved? That’s also the downside. See, because the caramels are all individually wrapped, you’ll have to unwrap them all.
And that’s not terribly fun except when a few pieces of caramel find their way into your mouth while you attend to the others. It worked for me at least.
Caramels can sure distract you, so pay close attention while you make your dough. You’ll have to separate it so you’re only baking part of it as a crust first. The other part you’ll refrigerate while the first part bakes. And while all that’s going on, you’ll be extra busy getting the caramels into sauce-form.
It’s so exciting to pour the melted caramel over that first baked part of the bar, but don’t forget to add the salt. That’s sea salt, by the way. You don’t want table salt on there! Belch!
You’ll crumble your refrigerated dough on top of all this delicious goo and bake for a short while longer.
And that, my friends, is how sweetie met salty! One of the best recipes that I found to make this review comes from the Cookies & Cups blog. Click the link below to go visit the blog to see some more awesome pictures and get the detailed recipe.
