FRESHER IS BETTER!
Sweet pineapple pie squares will brighten anyone’s day, especially made fresh. And they’re much easier than you could ever imagine. The recipe calls for you to make your own pie crust. Now you can be a cheaty-cheater here and get the ready-made pie dough. Up to you! But if you make this crust, be forewarned that it calls for the use of shortening. If you’ve read my reviews before, you know I avoid shortening like the plague because it’s not good for you. Instead, I subbed in butter which is much better for you.
Once you roll out your dough, get the filling ready and then spread it over the dough. Then add the second sheet of dough on top. Be careful here because once you put it on there, you can’t move it. Seal the edges by crimping to avoid a hot mess. After it bakes, brush it with the melted butter and then shake confectioners’ sugar all over the top. Voila! Pre-packaged cakes made fresh! Try it with other fillings too!
