MEMORIES FADE BUT COOKIES ARE FOREVER!
I have some of the most wonderful memories attached to Pecan Sandies. It instantly takes me back to a time when I would “help” my grandmother bake treats for myself and my neighborhood friends. (In reality, I wasn’t helping much. I was coating the floor and walls in flour, licking beaters, and occasionally dropping eggs on the floor. But she always made me feel like my help was invaluable.)
In my memory, creating these little treats was a huge event and required hours of slaving in the kitchen. At the end of the process though, we’d have these wonderful little buttery treats that would melt in our mouths and leave everyone with a smile on their face. I can still close my eyes and imagine myself on the front porch of Gramma’s house with a cold glass of milk and a handful of these delights. On colder days, we’d enjoy the cookies with a hot cup of drinking chocolate.
Of course, it didn’t take hours of slaving in the kitchen to make these killer cookies. Time seemed to move more slowly then, and what felt like hours was in reality only 30 minutes. (Well, perhaps it was hours for my Gramma, cleaning up after the train wreck of a mess I created.) Let’s go to the next page (click the Next button below) to see how to concoct these little delights.
