SHEER CHOCOLATE DECADENCE!
This ooey gooey cake of your chocolatiest desires is made in a 9×13. I love the simplicity of this from-scratch recipe. Baking in a 9×13 is so low-key, perfect for new bakers. Still, you’ll want to butter and flour that sucker real good before you get started. It’s an easy cake to begin with too. All you need to do is pay attention to what you’re mixing with what and when. First, it’s the milk and the vinegar, which you’ll combine and then set aside. Then in another bowl, the dry ingredients get whisked up. And then you’ll heat butter, cocoa and water on your stove until it boils, at which point you will add the flour mixture and beat like crazy. Maybe that’s the insanity part.
Then remember that milk mixture? You’ll add the baking soda to that and then set it aside. You’ll get another bowl and add the chocolate chips and some flour. Then you’ll add eggs to the flour/butter mixture. And add the milk mixture and vanilla. Beat this well and then fold in the chocolate chips. Wait, maybe using all those different bowls is the insanity part of this. Hmmm… Anyway, aside from all the bowls, once you’ve got it poured in the pan, that’s it. You’ll bake it and when there’s 5 minutes left before the cake finishes, you’ll make the icing which you will pour over the cake while hot. Oh be still, my heart!
