WHERE’S THE COFFEE?
You might be surprised to learn that this coffee cake has no coffee in it. It surprised me too, but then again when I think about it, not all coffee cakes have coffee in them. It just seems like a misnomer unless it’s called “coffee cake” because you’re supposed to serve it with coffee. Having guests for breakfast or if you’ve got out-of-towners visiting, putting this together is so easy and elegant. Have it ready and you can relax and enjoy your company.
Get the batter ready by combining the ingredients in the order the recipe specifies. Then pour a third of the batter into your greased tube pan. You’ll make a mixture of cinnamon, nuts and sugar and sprinkle a third of that on top of the batter in your pan. Do that again and again for a grand total of twice so you have alternating layers of yumminess. Cool it for 15 minutes first before popping it out of the pan so it can cool on a wire rack completely. See? Easy, elegant and excellent.
