THAT’S RICH!
So first things first on your way to making these rich bars…you’ll make your crust, which consists of crushed up el cheapos and melted butter. Your food processor can help make that happen fast. Save some of this crumbly stuff for the topping. The rest gets pressed into your pan. By the way, line that pan with parchment paper to make things easier for you at the end. You’ll bake the crust first for a few minutes and then let it cool completely.
Next, you’ll make the chocolate mixture with butter and chocolate. You’ll take it from the heat when the chocolate is just about melted. After that, the egg goes in and then the sugar. What’s important here is to add the sugar just one little bit at a time. When all the sugar is in and everything is nice and smooth, the pecans can go in. If you have a nut allergy or just don’t care for nuts, you can leave them out. I didn’t, but that’s because I like pecans and I wasn’t making it for someone with allergies. But it is comforting to know that I could make this for someone that does.
You’ll add the crumbs you saved from the crust and then chill. When it’s nice and firm, you can cut it up into squares and feel splendidly rich while eating it. Yum!
