YOU DON’T NEED A MILLION BUCKS TO MAKE THESE!
For something that tastes rich that won’t cost you an arm and a leg, you need to try these millionaire squares. I admit, the name drew me in. After all, who DOESN’T want to be a millionaire? Hey, did you ever watch that show? I used to with an old boyfriend of mine. I was always able to answer the questions easily but I thought if I were actually on that show, my questions would be stuff I wouldn’t know. Can I phone a friend? Like, for ALL the questions?
Anyway, when I took a look at the recipe, it made me smile. Why? Because it calls for the use of these cheap packaged oatmeal cookies that are delicious in their own right. When we were kids, my dad referred to these cookies as “El Cheapos” because they were so cheap. If we were off to the store, he’d ask Mom to “grab a package or two of those el cheapos while you’re there.” Mom would always grab 2 or 3 because my dad would gobble them down. He did this with Pinwheels too. He STILL does it. Last time we visited, Mom got Pinwheels for the kids and Daddy ate ALL of them. Thankfully, she’d stashed some in the freezer in the garage. They didn’t last very long in any case. I didn’t think you could improve on those el cheapos, but turns out, I was wrong.
