THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!
This cake is so simple because you use a brownie mix and a cake mix. The original poster used Duncan Hines Triple Chocolate cake mix and Ghirardelli Ultimate Fudge brownie mix. Only half of each mix was used to make a 9×13 but you know me, I decided to go all in and make all of it. No halfsies for me. I reasoned that because we were having friends come with their kids the next day, that we could offer everyone some of this. Needless to say, I think they are thrilled to be our friends.
Anyway, if you do use all the mixes, you’ll need 2 of those 9×13 pans. If not, follow the directions in the post on splitting the recipe. You’ll combine the ingredients for the cake mix with the cake mix and the brownie mix with the brownie mix and then you will combine them both into the baking pan at the same time swirling them together gently. Bake it and when done, take a fork and poke holes in your cake. Ganache comes with one of your boxes and you will take that ganache and pour it all over the top. If you make half of each box mix like the original poster has, you will only need half the ganache. If you do both like I did, that ganache will cover both cakes. The result is moist and marvelous chocolate cake in a snap!
I found this incredibly chocolatey recipe on the Oh Bite It blog. Click the link below to see the blog and full recipe for this Midnight Fudge Cake.
