I NEVER WAS VERY GOOD AT SNOWBALL FIGHTS!
It is incredible to look back and think about how different the world was just 25 years ago. In the early 1990s, cell phones were carried in large backpacks, Vanilla Ice was relevant, and if you wanted to research any random topic, it involved going to the library and looking up the answers in an encyclopedia. It was also a time when neighborhood kids would go outside and play for hours on end with little to no supervision, only to go home at the end of the night when the streetlights came on. In the winter, these long days of playing outdoors usually involved snowball fights. I was always the last one picked for teams for two main reasons: 1. I was a terrible thrower. 2. I always felt guilty about hitting anyone else.
I spent most of my time getting pelted by snowballs and found myself curled up in the fetal position freezing for the majority of those long hours. And yet? I wouldn’t trade any of those moments for the world.
These days, cell phones can be carried in our pockets, Vanilla Ice has been desperately attempting to regain any fame through a series of reality TV shows, and Wikipedia has replaced the encyclopedia. It is also a time when kids don’t get together in the neighborhood like they used to and play randomly till the sun goes down. It makes me wonder often if in this time of technology and reduced social interaction, if something as barbaric as a snowball fight even still exists? Maybe but how about a little treat called Coconut Snowball Cookies to bring some of those memories back?! Let’s go to the next page (click the Next button below) for some snowball déjà vu from these cookies.
