A CHOCOLATEY CONUNDRUM
To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to think of this recipe when I first found it. Hot Cocoa Cookies? Were they cookies made out of hot cocoa? Were they cookies that you should eat with hot cocoa? Were they served warm like hot cocoa? After a little sleuthing in the kitchen and making a batch myself, I am happy to report that I have discovered the answer: All of the above.
I had a chocolatey afternoon planned for myself to find the answers. With the overabundance of cocoa powder in my pantry and a few cans of evaporated milk, I started a crock full of my favorite slow cooker hot chocolate drink. As it simmered, I began the experiment with these wonderful treats.
Employing cocoa powder, not instant hot cocoa of course, these cookies are a cup of hot chocolate in solid form. Rich, sweet, and chewy, these beauties are made out of cocoa, are delicious with hot cocoa, and knock your socks off when served warm like hot cocoa. Mystery solved!
