NOW THESE REALLY SATISFY!
When I spent time living abroad, I didn’t realize the torture I’d brought upon myself. As a chocoholic, whenever I felt I needed a bit of chocolate, I’d just pick some up at the supermarket. Or run into the gas station while I was filling up. Funny the things we take for granted. Appreciate your candy, my friends. For real. In China for example, they have only a few brands of chocolate from the US. There’s also a small selection of chocolate from other countries. It’s not cheap. Chinese chocolate bars are not at all tasty. There’s something about them that taste like chocolate sawdust. Not. Good.
In just about every store though, you could find Hershey bars, Dove bars, and Snickers. No Reese’s. No Twix. No Kit Kat. God, I was SO deprived! I went for a Snickers and while it did satisfy, it tasted a little different to me. Come to find out they alter the recipe by region to suit the tastes of the consumers there. It’s true! Even Hershey’s tasted different. I got a package from friends back home that sent me Snickers and Hershey bars and I ate them side by side with ones I bought in China and I could taste the difference. If I ever find myself abroad again, at least I have this recipe for homemade Snickers to keep me from jonesing! Let’s go to the next page (click the Next button below) to discover how to make these Homemade Snickers Bars.
