ACHTUNG BABY!
Interestingly, I just did a recipe on an island pecan pie. It offered a tropical take on the iconic pie. And it was awesome. But this? OMG. It’s awesome in a whole different direction. In a chocolate direction. What a totally natural progression. Here you have pecan pie and German chocolate cake run away and elope in some fabulous destination and bam! The lovechild from their union is this incredible recipe.
It’s everything you love about pecan pie – that warm, rich and gooey filling and sweet pecans on a bar-style chocolate crust mixed with the deep German chocolaty goodness and coconut. It’s almost like those magic bars but I have to be honest…I think these win. It’s basically a chocolate version of a pecan pie with coconut added in and it’s BRILLIANT. What a marvelous way to raise the bar for desserts everywhere in such a truly simple way. If you’ve got people to bake for, get these going now. You won’t be sorry!
