MAKES ENOUGH TO SHARE, IF YOU DARE!
This fudge is SO good that it is truly difficult to keep your hands off of it. Make it when other people are around so you can keep from pilfering too many pieces for yourself. If you love German chocolate cake and you love fudge, this is going to be your new favorite.
Plus, it’s super easy. You’re going to melt the butter and the chocolate chips together. Use a saucepan or use the microwave. Just be careful to heat it in increments if you do it in the microwave. No one thinks burnt chocolate is delicious. Blech! Your mixer handles the rest with incorporating the sugar and the vanilla extract. That’s the fudge part for you. Fridge it up until it sets for at least an hour before frosting it.
The ingredients for the frosting need to be cooked together on your stove top and then have enough time to cool. So I suggest you do this about halfway through the fridge time of the fudge. That way, when your fudge is set, your frosting will be cool enough too. It’s simple enough to make this frosting but in a pinch, you can dress up your fudge with the canned variety of this frosting. I followed the recipe and it’s just so worth it to make it from scratch if you’re able to.
I found this nostalgic recipe from the Spicy Southern Kitchen blog. Click the link below to see the blog and the full recipe for this German Chocolate Fudge.
