HOMEMADE HAPPINESS!
Brownies made more spectacular with homemade German chocolate frosting? Yes please! And here they are! Now, you COULD get away with making a box mix of brownies here and then making your coconut pecan frosting. That’s certainly an option though making the brownies from scratch will give this more of the richness it deserves. Still, if you were in a hurry and wanted to impress, you could totally box it. It will be our secret.
If you choose to follow the brownie recipe, it’s very straightforward. The frosting isn’t challenging either. You’ll make it on the stove. Evaporated milk is one of the ingredients and to this day, it makes me chuckle. Because when something evaporates, doesn’t it disappear? For years before I began baking, I always wondered if the cans of evaporated milk were just full of air. Spoiler alert: they’re not. Anyway, you’ll need to stir the frosting constantly over low heat until it gets thick. Once it does, take it off the heat and add the vanilla, coconut and pecans. Be sure to spread it onto your brownies while the frosting is still warm.
I found this delicious recipe on the My Baking Addiction blog. Click the link below to see the blog and full recipe for these German Chocolate Brownies.
