ONLY 5 INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS!
While it looks like it contains gobs of ingredients and hundreds of steps, this Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Oreo Pie is rather sneaky. It’s like me in that I don’t look or act my age but when you find out my age, you’re like whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? NO WAY! I am this pie.
You’ll make the crust with crushed Oreos and melted butter. Press it into your pie pan and freeze it so it sets, roughly 10 minutes or so. To make the caramel, you’ll use the rest of the butter and the brown sugar and cook until it bubbles. Make sure to remove it from the heat before you pour in the heavy whipping cream. When it officially becomes caramel, let it cool 15 minutes before pouring onto the chocolate crust. After pouring it, put it in the freezer for 30 or 45 minutes. DO NOT forget about it! You don’t want that caramel freezing on you. You only want it to set.
Finally, you’ll melt the chocolate and then pour it on top of the caramel. Two options here: 1) freeze it for 30 minutes or 2) cover it and refrigerate it until you’re ready to serve it. Just prior to serving, be sure to garnish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. Amazing how some of the most simple things can taste so incredible, isn’t it?
