A GUILT-FREE COOKIE!
Oatmeal cookies were never high up on my list as a kid. I blame that squarely on the raisins. I’m still not a huge fan of raisins. Our next door neighbor would always make oatmeal cookies without the raisins for me which was really sweet. I liked those, but if given a choice, I always went for chocolate chip. What can I say? Chocolate is so near and dear to my heart. As I’ve grown up, my tastes have continued to blossom and now things that are less sweet are also palatable to me. The me of my childhood would have given you the evil side-eye if you even suggested I try a cookie with fruit in it. I was scarred for life from those raisins, I tell you.
But the adult me loved the idea of these dark chocolate cherry oatmeal cookies. I’ve been to Asia when the cherries are ripe for the picking and boy are they divine right off the tree! It doesn’t get any better than that. The dark chocolate and the cherry give this oatmeal cookie a really tasty makeover that I dare say is better than the original, and healthier to boot too!
