FORGET TAKEOUT. THESE ARE FASTER!
I spent some time traveling through Asia at one point in my life. Mostly China, Korea and Japan. The food over there is really different. Yes, different than you get in the restaurants here, that’s for sure. And some of that is good. And some of it, not so much. But one thing each Asian country seems to do well is wrap tasty things in a light flour-based casing. It varies by country but it’s usually a mixture of meat and vegetables. And it’s surprisingly comforting. And munchable. Finding these savory baked wontons made me smile and think of my old adventures on the other side of the world. Sure, I can go to the Chinese place up the street but shhhh…don’t tell them that these are better. WAY better.
This recipe also makes them healthier than takeout because these are baked and not fried, which is a nice bonus in my book. In Asia, they fry all of that stuff up, in peanut oil no less. Ack! This is a heart-healthy alternative and so delicious. Next time you want an Asian-flair in your snackage, or you need an awesome appetizer for a party, you’ve gotta make these!
