SIMPLY DELIGHTFUL!
I think I sound like a broken record every time I run into a recipe that originally calls for shortening. Sorry, but it’s important to know you have healthier options that are just as delicious when it comes to shortening. Even lard is better for you.
But in these cookies, replacing the shortening with butter is great (though lard would work fine too) because it adds a bit of a buttery element to these cookies. I love butter so getting that buttery taste added in was just another bonus to me. You can’t go wrong with butter. So if you go the butter route, you’ll cream it together with the cream cheese. Then you add everything else together. And once the dough is all ready, you plop it onto the cookie sheet with a spoon.
Sprinkle on the colored sugars or fun sprinkles of your choice before popping them into the oven. They’re done when the edges get golden. Warning: the delicious smell that will come from your oven is like breathing in the scent of heaven!
I found this scrumptious recipe from the 365 Days of Baking and More blog. Click the link below to see the blog and the full recipe for these Cream Cheese Cookies.
