LET THE TREAT EXCHANGES BEGIN!
Oh, I love the holiday season so much. My love of food and my desire to please others come together in this beautiful symbiotic moment: The creation and delivery of a special treat to warm the heart and feed the soul.
One of my favorite gift giving activities of the season though is always the Treat Exchanges! A group of people make a treat to share with the others, something that is a specialty, honors their heritage, or simply makes them smile. By the end of the treat exchange, everyone has a little piece of heaven that was given and shared with the group. It is a fabulous way to try new treats, and share your love of baking and giving. I was given little blue box with white ribbons that stood out from the rest.
Unlike the others at the exchange who kept their cool and saved their treats for home, I picked up the little tart in my fingers, no fork necessary in my mind, and sunk my teeth into the treat. Instantly, I was greeted with the rich chocolate, but then a surprise! Thick, gooey, and buttery caramel. Lastly, the salt on top of the tart hit my tongue and the entire piece came together. I simply had to have the recipe. I needed to know how these pieces of perfection were created and I needed to have them at my disposal whenever I wanted.
