A TRUE OLDIE BUT GOODIE!
Traditional recipes that have been handed down for years have got to be some of the best. They’ve stood the test of time and endured. Nothing can beat a classic. That’s why I was so super excited to test out these sugar cookies. The original poster said that they date back to 1877! Now that is a LONG time ago. Imagine your amazing recipe outliving you! That’s pretty cool. And a little creepy, honestly, but mostly cool.
I also thought these were cool because the dough doesn’t need to be chilled. As I marveled over that though, I realized that in 1877, refrigerators weren’t around so of course this recipe wouldn’t require refrigeration. Wow. Isn’t that mind-boggling? I’m not sure what flips me out more…the refrigerator thing or that this recipe is over 100 years older than I am. Thankfully what flipped me out the most was the taste. I mean, wow. Just wow. These are so simple and so classic. They’re soft and lovely and it is easy to see why this recipe has been treasured for all these years.
