Another thing to love about these is that they take less than 40 minutes to make from start to finish. So you don’t have to slave away too early in the morning to make your family happy for a sweet breakfast treat. To make these, you’ll need buttermilk which you can either buy from the store or make yourself. Why buy a gallon of buttermilk if the rest will go to waste? For every cup of buttermilk you’ll need, take one cup of milk and mix in 2 tablespoons of either vinegar or lemon juice. Pour it in, curds and all, for a perfect buttermilk blend!
Me being me, I had to experiment when I made a second batch of these and to out-decadent myself, I made some of that sweet icing – the kind you put on cinnamon rolls. And OMG. Like wow. These are wonderful as-is but with the icing, they are a whole new echelon of awesome. To make that, just take 2 cups of confectioners’ sugar, 2 tablespoons of softened butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla and mix together. Then, add in 2 tablespoons of milk one at a time, stirring until you achieve your desired consistency. You can add more or less milk to make it as you like. Enjoy!
