CHOCOLATE WASTELAND!
The original recipe provides very comprehensive notes on how to replace certain ingredients, which is great. My sister-in-law is vegan and she loves sweets. The next time she comes in town, I can veganize this for her. She’ll love it. As far as preparing it goes, it’s super simple. Make the cake in two pans. Make the frosting. Nothing unusual here. It’s the assembly that’s going to need your attention.
Take the first layer of cake and put it on a plate. Get it a little drunk with a drizzle of liqueur. Then top it with frosting. Then add the next layer on top of it and do the same lovely things to it. Make sure that frosting now gets spread all around the sides as well. Next, you’ll gently press handfuls of chocolate chips onto the sides of the cake.
Then, you’ll take the chocolate candies of your choice and top it off. The original poster used Kit Kats, Twix and Hershey bars. I went with Caramellos (my favorite) instead of Hershey bars. You can go with your favorites as well. Drizzle melted chocolate all over it to unite the whole thing and voila! You have yourself one totally outrageously decadently chocolate cake!
