APPLE-LICIOUS!
You’ll need an oven-proof skillet for this one. Grease it up good. It’s going on an apple adventure! It’s so easy to get the batter for this together though it does call for buttermilk. You don’t need to make a special trip to the store to get buttermilk. Make it yourself by mixing one cup of milk with 2 tablespoons of either vinegar or lemon juice for every cup of buttermilk called for.
After making the batter, make the topping. It should be crumbly before you add in the pecans and oats. You can also opt to leave out the pecans but with the caramel and apples, they really bring out the fall feeling of this dessert. I’d say leave them on unless you’ve got a nut allergy in the family. You’ll sprinkle the topping on top of the batter and then you’ll top with apple slices, arranging in a pretty pattern on top. Bake it away and then let it cool. Once cool, make your caramel topping and drizzle it on top. Let it set and then serve it, preferably with ice cream. This one will be on my Thanksgiving dessert table this year, no doubt about it!
