MAKE FALL MORE FABULOUS!
Yes, school is starting soon and we’ll fall back into fall, along with everything apple under the sun. Here’s an apple the teacher will be happy to get, I promise you this! You can simplify this recipe some more by using a ready-made pie dough. But if you’d like to make it yourself, at the end of the linked recipe, the original poster has a link to how to make pie crusts properly as well as some trouble-shooting so if you’re hesitant to make your own crust, read that first and give it a try. Making your own crust is so liberating and it’s not even close to difficult. Once you make one yourself, you will wonder why you ever bought it from the store all those times.
So you’ll fit your pastry into the pie pan. Then you’ll stack up those apple slices one at a time. And then you’ll make the caramel sauce. You’ll pour it on your apples and then you’ll cover the pie with more crust. You can do whatever kind of top that you like. I personally love a lattice-topped pie. Be sure to brush it with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. It helps brown and crisp it. Though before the pie finishes, check on it and if it’s getting really brown on top, cover it with foil for the remainder of the bake time to prevent burning. Do not forget to serve this with ice cream! Wow!
