THE BEST DESSERT OF SUMMER IN 5 INGREDIENTS!
This dessert, much like you, needs some chill time. So plan ahead for your next backyard barbecue or family gathering. Adults and kids will both go nuts for these. And speaking of nuts, this recipe does call for peanuts. But you can leave them out if you are serving anyone with nut allergies. Or if you just don’t like nuts. Or if you just plain don’t want them there for whatever reason. I love nuts, but I’m not a huge fan of them in my ice cream so I excluded them from mine. The hardest part of making these Buster Bars is waiting for everything to freeze. You’ll line crushed Oreos in your baking dish (use your food processor or even blender to crush them). Your ice cream needs to be softened before spreading it on top of the Oreos. You should leave your ice cream out on the counter for about 10 minutes to achieve a nice softness.
Then you’ll stick your dish in the freezer and allow the ice cream to freeze once again. Once it’s nice and freezy, spread your fudge sauce on top of the ice cream. If you’re including peanuts, you’ll add those on top of the fudge. Put the Cool Whip on top of that and freeze for one last time. This is great to do overnight so it’s ready the next day. Cut up into bars before you serve to make everyone’s summer even more special!
