GO AHEAD AND OUT-CHOCOLATE YOURSELF!
Now here’s something you don’t see every day. This recipe calls for pudding between the 3 layers of cake. See? Told you it was choco-tastic. That’s not what’s rare. What is then? The fact that you make the pudding from scratch. I love it. Genius. I guess you could cheat and use boxed pudding but I have to tell you it was cool, not to mention more delicious to make it from scratch. However, you choose to make your pudding, be sure to refrigerate it for at least 2 hours. It needs to be nice and cold.
You’ll use two round baking pans, lined with greased parchment paper that will make it easier for dealing with your cakes later. When the cakes are done, you’ll be slicing them in half horizontally so that you wind up with 4 layers. You’ll use three of them in the cake, laying one down and frosting it and then repeating the process until you have a 3-layer cake. The fourth layer will be used as crumble. You will crumble it and then sprinkle it all over the top and sides of your frosted cake. You might need to press lightly on the cake to get the crumbs to stick. Enjoy your trip to chocolate heaven!
