ONLY 8 EASY INGREDIENTS!
Not only are these allowed to tout themselves as the best, but they also are simple with less than 10 ingredients to make it happen. I’ve got to be honest too…with pudding mix in the ingredients, I wondered how this could be the best of the best. But it just IS.
You’ll use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour for the crust. Unless you don’t have one. Don’t cry! You can use a fork to achieve the same results. It should look coarse and crumbly. Here’s where you’ll mix in nuts. Unless you have a problem with them and if that is the case, go for graham cracker crumbs. But I do love the walnuts in this. They add such a nice crunch and great flavor. Use them if you can.
Then you know how the story goes…bake the crust, let it cool. Mix the cream cheese filling together. Spread the cream cheese filling on the crust. Then make the pudding filling and follow those directions. Then spread that pudding filling over the cream cheese layer. And finally, spread the rest of the Cool Whip on top. It needs to refrigerate for at least 2 hours but I know you’ll find a way to pass the time. If any of it is leftover after serving, make sure to keep in the fridge or it won’t be the best any more.
I found this tart and scrumptious recipe from the 365 Days of Baking and More blog. Click the link below to see the blog and the full recipe for the Best Lemon Squares.
