A CREAMY VERSION OF THE CLASSIC!
Nothing is more American than apple pie. It’s a classic through and through. If you’re just getting into baking, one milestone you must achieve is the baking of a from-scratch apple pie. Of course, in my younger years, I cheated in an attempt to impress a boyfriend. I baked up a frozen apple pie from a well-known brand. I disposed of the evidence and pretended I’d done it all myself.
Throughout these years, I often made pies this way – by purchasing them from the freezer section and then baking them up. I thought only a fool would waste time baking a pie. That is until one day I found myself living abroad and frozen apple pies were nonexistent where I was. I learned how to cook and bake real fast when I was challenged with not getting the foods I missed from home unless I made them myself. I learned a lot about myself during this time, and that I could in fact make an apple pie completely from scratch. It amazed me and it was what helped me begin my baking journey. So in my heart, I have a soft spot for apple pie. When I saw this recipe for a creamy version though, I knew I had to stop everything and make it.
